Minister Kamp enthusiastic about Carezzo

Minister Kamp of Economic Affairs has visited the Wageningen University on the 11th of March. Three starting entrepreneurs had a chance to present a technological innovation. Carezzo bread, which has been made possible by EBIC, was one of the presented innovations.

Cater with Care
Cater with Care is a cooperative alliance between companies to create delicious and functional food which contribute to prevention and treatment of malnourishment. Carezzo is a partner with enriched (from 5.5 grams per two slices to 11 grams per two slices of bread) protein bread.

EBIC
“As people eat bread every day, it seemed logical to enrich this bread with vegetable protein. Malnourished people actually need more of these protein. Two slices of standard bread contain 5.5 grams of protein. We have doubled this to 11 grams", says Fred Bergmans (initiator Carezzo). He approached the European Bakery Innovation Centre (EBIC) for product development. Doubling the protein in bread formed a new challenge, but thanks to the contribution of EBIC this challenge was accomplished. And the taste of this Carezzo bread is great!

Interesting bread
The properties of the bread, the argumentation and the market felt correct with Minister Kamp from Economic Affairs. Next to that the bread tasted good. The Minister of Economic Affairs took some extra bread for tasting purposes.
